Guides
We are looking for volunteer guides to help spread the word to even more people about the wonders of Westonbirt – would you be interested?
If you enjoy meeting and talking to people, have an interest in trees or history (or both), and would like to join our training programme, we’d like to hear from you.
At Westonbirt Arboretum, our guided tours go off the well trodden pathways, to discover some of the rarer and most spectacularly beautiful trees that are so special.
One visitor commented after he joined a walk:
"I’ve been coming here every month for years and this is the first time I’ve walked around with my eyes open."
Whilst at Westonbirt School, the Guides are able to open the doors of this magnificent country residence and gardens, bringing to life the character and aspirations of family life in the Victorian era.
Volunteers gain enormous satisfaction from their involvement:
"people’s enjoyment is infectious – I am happy if I have given them an opportunity to have a good time".
Propagation Vounteer
We are looking for people to assist in the growing of rare and valuable trees and shrubs for planting out into the Collection, and day to day nursery care. For more information see below.
Plant Recorder Volunteer
We are looking for people to assist in the recording of Phenology data. Phenology is the recording of natural occurrences such as flowering time, leaf fall etc. This data is then fed into the UK network and helps us to understand how plants are reacting to climate change. For more information see below.
Please contact Cheryl Pearson at or call into the Great Oak Hall and collect a Volunteer Enquiry Pack from the Information Desk.
