Become part of Westonbirt's vibrant community of volunteers, helping to protect and enhance our landscape and welcome visitors to The National Arboretum.
We are currently recruting for Information Volunteers and Guide Volunteers. You can find role descriptions below and we'll also be holding an Open Morning on Wednesday 22 February 2012, where you can chat to staff and experienced volunteers about what is involved.
Information Volunteer
The Westonbirt Information Desk provides a first-class service for the National Arboretum and engages with thousands of visitors each year. This busy and varied volunteer role welcomes visitors and provides an exemplary information and visitor service.
By being part of the Westonbirt team you will be representing the National Arboretum in delivering a professional service with a smile. Sharing your passion and knowledge of the Arboretum will help visitors to make the most of their day whilst being rewarding and satisfying for yourself. There will be opportunities to learn new skills and gain experience in the customer service sector, increase your knowledge and understanding of Westonbirt, as well as spending time with like-minded people and forging new friendships.

Guide Volunteer
We are currently looking to recruit volunteer Guides. Initially this will involve training as a Guide Sweeper, a role that supports Guides leading walks around the Arboretum during all its wonderful seasons. If wished this could lead to further training to become a qualified Guide.
Westonbirt is a leading attraction in the South West with over 370,000 annual visitors. Guided Walks have become a well established part of the events calendar and are a popular way of finding out more about the arboretum’s heritage, tree collection and management.
Sharing your interest and knowledge will introduce visitors to the special qualities of the world famous arboretum and its rare and unique tree collection. Once trained as a Guide, there will be opportunities to seek and share specialist knowledge, and for additional research using Westonbirt’s library and archive resources.
