Saturday 22 May
DAY TRIP TO BATSFORD ARBORETUM
Come and see Batsford’s famous, century‑old Davidia tree covered in snow‑white handkerchiefs. Batsford Arboretum is one of Westonbirt’s reciprocal gardens, so be sure to bring your Friends’ membership card to gain free entry. Davidia Week at Batsford starts on the day we visit, Saturday 22 May, so we do hope to see it in full flower.
Batsford hold the National Collection of Japanese Cherries which should also be in flower, alongside many magnolias. In addition, May is an excellent time to visit Batsford as an abundance of wildflowers adorn the hillside. The bluebells and garlic, with their wonderful scents, shouldn’t be missed.
