First impressions count. We’d like all our visitors’ very first experience of Westonbirt to be impressive, efficient, informative and fun – and we’ll do this through our new Gateway Building.
In this striking, sustainably designed building visitors will find out what’s happening that day, discover what makes Westonbirt and its trees so amazing, and also be able to pick up a free wheelchair or electric scooter.
There’ll be a new car parking area too. In the future, visitors will park their car first, then walk easily through the Gateway Building. From here, clear orientation and trails will help them get to where they want to go, and do what they want to do.
Tree Top Experience
Most exciting of all, we’ll be creating a tree top experience to take in the fantastic, historic vistas and connect with the trees in a whole new way. See the winning design.
Out in the arboretum, as well as the ever-popular trails, we’ll bring to life the day-to-day work of the arboretum – including our all-important tree management. New interpretative zones will also reveal the hidden significance of many of our trees.
Learning Hub
A new purpose-built Learning Hub will be the perfect place for lifelong learning – with the latest technology and space for talks, demonstrations and workshops. Our successful education programme will continue to develop and grow and reach new students.
For the first time, a new plant propagation centre will give people the chance to not only see expert and intricate propagation work in progress but also to volunteer and be part in the whole process.
