Trees Please: About The Westonbirt Project

The Westonbirt Project is an ambitious plan to take Westonbirt into the future. It’s vital that we conserve our heritage and unrivalled tree collection and really connect people with trees.

In the future, people will come to Westonbirt not only to wonder at the beautiful trees and landscape but also to understand more about the importance of trees.

Westonbirt is a national treasure. It’s recognised as one of the most spectacular and historical collections in the world, and must be secured for future generations, especially with the climate challenges we face.

Westonbirt is an inspirational place. It brings benefits to huge numbers of people – from visitors and volunteers through to schoolchildren, the local community and enthusiasts from all over the world.

  • By reuniting the Westonbirt estate we can share its history, trees and landscape with everyone.
  • We’ll not only continue to restore the picturesque landscape but also safeguard the collection against the increasing threat of climate change.
  • We want to give people more opportunities to get involved, volunteer, share a love of trees and enjoy being outdoors.
  • Westonbirt will become a centre of excellence for learning – a place to understand more about the importance of trees in our lives and to the future of the planet.
  • Westonbirt will be a year-round attraction - a natural experience enjoyed through all the seasons.
