Welcome Building
A better 'hello'
The new Welcome Building will host admissions and information all in one place; creating a first impression that shows we have an integral Friends organisation, modern access facilities, a hugely important tree collection and a fascinating history.
It may sound simple, but a joined-up welcome, mobility scooter hire and information source is something Westonbirt does not currently have.
Our research tells us that many people don’t know where to go and what they can find out about once they get out of their car. This means they are missing a lot of the things that can make their visit here even more enjoyable.
From the new Welcome Building, visitors will pay, collect mobility scooters, find out about Friends membership, use the WCs and discover all the activities, trails and information about the tree collection - all under one roof.
We'll help visitors to discover more about Westonbirt with new interpretation about our tree collection, environmental issues and the arboretum’s creators; the Holford family.
With a new pay-on-foot system, we also hope to cut traffic queuing into the site; a major problem during busy periods such as autumn and a regular irritation to Friends who currently have to queue in their cars to show their membership card.
