Our Work

The Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum is a registered charity and a non-profit making company. The Friends operate alongside the Forestry Commission in a formal partnership arrangement to help the running and management of Westonbirt, The National Arboretum in England and one of the most important tree collections in the world.

The Friends raise funds and provide voluntary support for the Forestry Commission’s work at the arboretum, and we support the Forestry Commission's aim to promote public understanding of the crucial role of trees to the environment and society.

We particularly recognise both the importance of The National Arboretum’s research and education in all fields relating to trees, and its role in maintaining and providing public access to this historically important collection of trees at Westonbirt.

After deducting administrative costs, all funds from our work goes to sustaining and expanding the collection at Westonbirt. Since 1985, more than £2.3m has been raised.
