The summer is a great time to visit Westonbirt Arboretum, with its wildflowers in bloom, tall trees to climb, and plenty of activities for the whole family.

Here are just a few of the things you can do at Westonbirt Arboretum this July:

Free family activities

There are plenty of family-friendly activities to enjoy at Westonbirt Arboretum, including the Summer Play - Towering Trees session, and the Wildflower Walks.

Get active

If you're looking for a more active way to enjoy the outdoors, you can take part in the Westonbirt Arboretum Half Marathon, or try Nordic walking or yoga in the arboretum.

Explore your senses

The Sensing Nature walk is a great way to explore the arboretum using your non-visual senses, and the Discovery Days offer a variety of activities to help you connect with nature.

There are a number of workshops and courses available at Westonbirt Arboretum, including Windsor chair making, hand-tied bouquet making, and willow sculpture.

Summer play - free family activities

Spend a fun-filled day exploring nature and creating magical memories with your family at Westonbirt Arboretum.

Towering Trees

Have fun discovering why trees grow so tall. Run the distance of our tallest tree or try a tree tower building challenge.

Guided walks

Daily walk in the Old Arboretum

Join our knowledgeable volunteers for a guided walk through the Old Arboretum and discover its seasonal features and hidden gems.

Everyday at 11am & 2pm

Wildflower walks

Embark on a fascinating journey through the world of wild flowers and other flora at Westonbirt Arboretum and uncover their many uses, stories, and traditions.

First Tuesday of the month at 10.30am from April - September

Discovery walks

Delve into the captivating world of trees on our discovery walks, which explore a different specialist theme each week.

Every Saturday at 10.30am from April - September

Sensing nature

Shift your perception and explore the trees of Westonbirt through your nonvisual senses on a sensory walk led by visually impaired guides.

Every second and fourth Friday of the month at 10.30am from April - September

Events

Half marathon

Join us on the 02 July for the Westonbirt Arboretum Half Marathon, 10km, 5km and Family Fun at the National Arboretum in Gloucestershire.

Run through a beautiful arboretum with 2,500 different species of trees, and enjoy amazing food stations and a large custom medal.

Discovery days

Improve your sense of wellbeing, meet new people, and feel more connected to nature at Westonbirt Arboretum's Discovery Days.

Saturday 15 July: ‘Sensory Discovery’

Test and explore your senses through taste, touch and smell in a range of activities including honey tasting.

Windsor chair making

Learn to make a Windsor chair from scratch using traditional hand tools in a beautiful Cotswold workshop.

Hand tied bouquet

Learn to make a beautiful hand-tied bouquet using fresh British-grown flowers in a relaxed morning workshop at Westonbirt Arboretum.

Wooden sculpture

Immerse yourself in the woods at Westonbirt and create a willow sculpture of your choice, with guidance from Zoe from Luna Loves Willow.

Summer scrapcrafting

Join a small group of fellow stitchers for a peaceful morning of scrapcrafting, learning to make a unique leaf-themed artwork from reclaimed materials.

Spend a relaxing day crafting and weaving with like-minded people to create a unique willow sculpture, bird feeder, or abstract sculpture under the guidance of tutor Zoe.
