It’s Father’s Day on 15 June, and as well as spending your Sunday here at the arboretum, you can also make Dad’s trip extra special with a dadication:

Wild and Wonderful Walks to Discover
As well as National Gardening Week from 01-07 June, it’s also World Environment Day on 5 June. Where better to spend time than The National Arboretum, where you can be inspired by world-class planting schemes and reconnect with nature? If you need even more of an excuse, why not take part in a guided walk to help you deeply connect with the arboretum?
Wild Flower Guided Walk - Tuesday 03 June, 2 hours, 10.30am
Experience the arboretum like never before as you discover the fascinating world of wild flowers and uncover the myths, legends, and traditions tied to each species. Advance booking for the guided walk is just £1 per person.
Discovery Walks – Every Thursday 11.30am
Step off the beaten path and delve into the captivating world of Westonbirt’s trees and plants during the weekly themed Discovery Walks.
Thursday 05 June - Native trees - Amongst the 15,000 trees, Westonbirt has about 2,000 different species of trees, but only a few of those are considered native to Britain. This walk will concentrate on our own native trees.
Thursday 12 June - Champion trees - Let us introduce you to Westonbirt’s majestic champion trees, each standing as a record-breaking testament to nature's grandeur.
Thursday 26 June - Silk Wood - Take the path less travelled to discover the wonders of the Ancient Woodland which has existed for 2,000 years.

Take a guided stroll through the Old Arboretum with one of Westonbirt’s expert volunteers and uncover seasonal highlights and hidden treasures. With the landscape constantly changing, every walk promises a fresh and unique experience. Discover all activities and events...
Westonbirt workshops
Japanese art of kintsugi ceramics repair, Sun 08 June, Mon 30 Jun. Price: £80
Join Clara Bethell-Sacks to learn the Japanese art of kintsugi repair for broken ceramics. Spend a relaxed few hours mindfully immersed in the processes, tools and materials of kintsugi. Suitable for complete beginners. You can bring your own broken piece, a piece to break or one provided by Clara. All tools and materials are included.
Printing with Leaves, Sat 21 June - 10:00am - 3:00pm, Price: £80
In the inspiring setting of Westonbirt Arboretum this workshop will use fallen leaves to print unique textile designs. You will have the opportunity to create botanical prints with the heat press and thermofax screens. Learn a new way of printing directly with natural leaves. No experience necessary. All materials provided
Spoon Carving, Sat 21 Jun, Sat 28 June, Price: £75
Carve out some time to make your very own wooden spoon. In the morning you will use an axe to make a roughly spoon shaped blank. The afternoon will then be spent sitting carving your spoon. Beginners are welcome. All tools are provided and safe carving techniques explained.
Family fun activities
Stick Man trail - available daily until September. Price: £4
Packed with interactive challenges and fun activities, the Stick Man self-guided trail is one of our family favourites. Please note, the trail is located in the Old Arboretum, a dog-free area. Activity packs are available to purchase from the Welcome Building and Westonbirt shop during opening times.
Biodiversity Detectives – 01 March – 31 August
Explore Westonbirt like never before - spot wildlife, take on fun challenges, and see how many wonderful and weird things you can find. Pick up your activity sheet at the Welcome Building, and don’t forget to claim your reward at the end!
Plant Orienteering Course – permanent, short or long courses
Orienteering is a fun outdoor activity for all the family to get involved in. Download one of the special maps to find markers around Silk Wood and learn interesting facts about plant hunters and the trees they introduced to Britain.
Try the short course (great for ages 7–11, takes about 45–60 minutes) or the longer one (best for ages 11+ and adults, 60–90 minutes). A great way to explore and enjoy nature as a family.
