Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum

How to remember us in your Will

There are three main ways that you can leave a gift in your will and you can discuss the merits of each with your solicitor to decide your preferred way to give.

Friends' logoResiduary gift, a way to leave a % amount of your residual estate after all debts have been settled and other gifts made. E.g. 10%.

Friends' logoPecuniary gift, is a gift of money, a specific sum amount. This could be index-linked to help your gift keep its value in line with inflation. E.g. £10,000.

Friends' logoSpecific gift, also known as a chattel, this is a gift of a specific item, for example a gift of land, an object or shares.

All gifts are really important to us, residuary gifts are particularly helpful as they tend to maintain or increase their value over time. With a residuary gift, you can be confident that you’ve made the biggest impact.

Once you have decided how you would like to leave a gift in your will it is important to consider how you would like that gift to be used. We’ve provided some suggestions below.

Direct your support where it’s needed most

Many of the gifts we receive are allocated for general purposes. This is a very helpful way to provide support for the arboretum. It enables us to use your gift on our most urgent projects or programmes of work.

All our charity work supports protecting trees and enriching lives to ensure Westonbirt's collection is enjoyed for generations to come.

Support a specific part of the arboretum

Alternatively, you may wish to support a particular area of the arboretum that holds special significance to you, for example, Silk Wood, The Old Arboretum or The Down’s grass chalkland habitat.

You can also support a theme of our work that you care deeply about – from conserving our natural heritage, educating the next generation of conservationists and widening access and participation at Westonbirt Arboretum.
