A Successful First Summer for the Shuttle Bus
As the leaves change their colours and autumn lands at Westonbirt, we’re celebrating the end of a wonderful first season for our brand-new shuttle bus.
For families, the shuttle has become part of the adventure itself, with children particularly enjoying the ride. On warm summer afternoons, it offers a welcome lift after a walk, while those with mobility challenges can explore further into the arboretum than they might have otherwise managed.
Our wonderful team of volunteer drivers has been at the heart of this success. Not only have they provided countless lifts, but they’ve also shared stories, swapped fun facts, and gathered snippets of visitors’ experiences, turning each journey into a friendly encounter.
This fully enclosed and comfortable bus has made a real difference in its first year. As one volunteer said, “It’s been brilliant seeing people enjoy new corners of the arboretum, and kids think it’s a little adventure all of its own!”
The shuttle was made possible thanks to funding from the Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum. Membership contributions directly support projects like this, improving access and creating new opportunities for everyone to enjoy Westonbirt. If you’re already a member, thank you—you’ve played a vital role in making the shuttle such a success in its first year.
The shuttle will make its final journeys of the season at the end of October before taking a well-earned winter rest. Don’t worry—it will be back in spring 2026, ready for another season helping visitors explore, discover, and enjoy Westonbirt.
We’d like to thank everyone who has hopped on board this year, and, of course, our fantastic volunteers who have made it all possible!
