Dining Update: Temporary Changes This Winter
Essential repairs are being carried out on The Kitchen restaurant roof this winter, which means some changes to dining at Westonbirt. While the work takes place, the catering partner Fosters will serve a new winter menu, from a heated temporary restaurant marquee on The Downs, open daily. Please follow onsite signage to find your way.
Important note: From 24 November to 1 December, both The Kitchen restaurant and The Downs Pizzeria & Café will be closed while equipment is transferred and the temporary space is set up. The team apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
Why These Repairs Matter
The Kitchen restaurant was designed to sit comfortably within Westonbirt’s heritage landscape, thanks in part to its sedum ‘green roof.’ This living roof is designed to blend beautifully with the surroundings and also provides habitat for plants and wildlife, reducing water run-off during heavy rain, and offering natural insulation that cools in summer and warms in winter. Some of the existing plants will be carefully stored and replanted, though they will take time to re-establish. These improvements will help ensure the building remains sustainable and resilient for years to come.
